    Satirist Richard Armour once observed that the only Irishman in the Shakespeare canon was a silent onlooker named Pat in “Hamlet”. When Hamlet oberves Claudius praying he says “now might I do it Pat”. That makes him one of the most famous ‘Pats’ along with the Julia Sweeney character and Pat Pending.
