Newt Gingrich’s first Iowa TV spot features the on-his-meds Newt (calm, measured, focused) as opposed to the off-the-cuff Newt (popcorn machine of bad ideas). If he can keep the latter out of sight for the next few months, he just might pull this most improbable feat off. But that’s like saying, if Kim Kardashian could just cut back on public appearances . . .
Anyway, here’s the ad:
Gingrich is spending $250,000 for a statewide ad buy, according to the Des Moines Register.
Hang on, folks. This could get interesting.
Let’s see…Newt was on the Fox Right-Wing Propaganda Network payroll for a couple of years. There must be somethning in the atmosphere there, because Newt begins this spot with the EXACT words that are the hallmark of the FR-WPN: “Some people say…”. Another favorite memof the FW-RPN: that the United States has lost the world’s respect as a result of President Obama’s “apologize for America” touring. SWo what image does Newt employ for how HE will restore the world’s respect? US Marines on parade doing a firearms drill! Oh, and another thing…the soundtrack is a piss-poor imitation of Howard Hanson’s Second Symphony.
