The Googletron

Just as the Internet sucks up all other media – newspapers, television, radio, etc. – so does Google suck up all other web platforms. Already colonized: email, emaps, webvideo, your platform goes here.

Currently under construction:

Google Books – Amazon without the cost

Google Wave – Twitter and Facebook on steroids

Google’s GPS App – So long, Tom Tom and Garmen

New York Times columnist Joe Nocera asked on Saturday if Google is in an antitrust jackpot.

I’ll go one further:

Is Google actually becoming the Internet?

“Is Google actually becoming the Internet?” No. Not even close.

  2. Andrew's avatar Andrew says:

Well, Google describes their mission as “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” which contradicts your theory in a couple of ways:

    1. It has nothing to do with the Internet, its just a convenient distribution medium. (some google products like Google 411 aren’t even Internet based.)

    2. Their mission is inherently in conflict with depends on restricting the availability of information.
