The hardworking staff has to admit that when we saw this headline in today’s Boston Herald
Mayor Thomas M. Menino: You wanna know what’s hip? me!
we immediately thought of hip replacements.
Actually, the piece is about the noodnik campaign by the Future Boston Alliance (which can’t even organize a website never mind a Hubbub) to lengthen barroom hours, MBTA service, and late-night eats in Boston.
By contrast, today’s Boston Globe appears to have nothing on this nothing kerfuffle, which might mean the local broadsheet got beat by the local tabloid, but also might mean the Globe knows a bogus story when it sees one.
Either way, the hardworking staff will be turning in now.

Out-of-towners never seem to grasp that if you haven’t been invited to someone’s place for a drink by 1AM, you should go home.
I think you’re missing something, John. FBA has 1,586 people following on Facebook, 2,241 followers on Twitter (obviously with overlap) and print, radio and net media are giving them coverage. The website is there for people to submit detailed feedback after receiving FBA’s message from one or more of those media sources.
Also, the point of the group in this stage is to solicit specific ideas on a common theme, not to show up on the scene with all of the answers. In other words, it is the demonstrable opposite of what they oppose about the mayor’s regime.
Fair enough, Mike. Having lived here for almost 40 years, I just find these sporadic attempts to drag Boston into the urban major leagues sort of rubbing your face with a brick. But I wish everyone involved the best of luck.
