Coincidentally, I shopped @ the new Chestnut Hill Star outpost yesterday. Took advantage of new opening sales prices on certain items, but was unimpressed, even though the shopping cart "ride" is fun to watch, and I awarded one point for the paper bags with handles. I suspect the prices are higher than at the Dedham Star where I often shop, and the store apes the still fairly new Roche Bros. in Wellesley and West Roxbury in its open market design with stations for Sushi, sandwiches and the like. At least in the Dedham store, you can sometimes get free samples to chow down on while you're shopping, a la B.J.'s. Also, the layout of the Chestnut Hill store seems illogical, such as bread in the same row as salad dressings.
